Our six areas of expertise in video production in Japan

Welcome. This is our Japan

branding films

We have made a number of branding films for companies that shape the world we live in, including Microsoft and Google, above, in both English and Japanese, using the power of story to connect corporate services to a wide range of audiences. Having not only great visuals but authentic audio is the key to making that connection.

outdoor location shoots

Chris Moore, Creative Director

I am an entrepreneur who has built a business in Japan that connects people through the power of story in video. Myself and my team are committed to using our entrepreneurial skills to promote your business through video and photo.

Originally from New Zealand, I have many years of experience filming in Japan and, as a bilingual videographer, I am comfortable working in both English and Japanese work environments. Along with our Japanese staff, I am committed to ensuring your Japan based video and photography projects are on message and showcase the people and places of Japan beautifully, even (particularly!) in a corporate video production setting.

A experienced skier, kayaker, hiker and all-round outdoor enthusiast myself, regional and outdoor shoots throughout Japan are a speciality, capturing the natural beauty of Japan and the lives of the people who live here.

Stop by my Instagram for photos of family and what I have been up to, or read what I’ve thinking about recently on X (Twitter)

Please have a look around our site, watch the video below where I introduce how we can produce your corporate video production in Japan, see what we have been up on the blog and our instagram below, and then get in touch. We'd love to hear about the project you are planning.
Some questions we are frequently asked

How long before the shoot date should everything be confirmed?

Earlier is always better but we understand many projects have lots of moving parts so we can be flexible. Basically, the larger the crew required the sooner the shoot date needs to confirmed. If we are available, then a 1 or 2 person shoot could be confirmed at the latest around a week before shoot date.

What are your terms of payment?

We will send an invoice for payment after delivery of the final edit or, if there is no edit, after delivery of the data.If there is a large upfront cost required like a large studio rental or a particularly large amount of equipment that needs to be rented, then we require payment for these costs before the shoot.

Can your team handle interviews in Japanese?

In addition to having native Japanese speakers on our team, we also have non-native but fluent Japanese speakers who have conducted many interviews in Japanese.

What if we want to handle the edit ourselves and just ask you to handle the shoot and data delivery?

While we prefer to plan, shoot and follow through the project end by doing the edit ourselves, we are happy to just shoot and deliver the footage to be edited by your side.

How do you deliver the footage and completed edit?

We usually deliver the footage and edit through Google Drive or Dropbox, but have also often FedExed hard drives around the world.

I see some big corporate names as clients, are you also open to more unusual, independent, work?

Absolutely. If there is a human story in there then we are usually keen to dive in a find out and make the shoot work for the budget you have. Recent shoots like this that come to mind are filming a music video with a shamisen player dressed in a hakama under the cherry blossoms with a message of gay rights, pro women wrestlers, and classical violinists at the top of a mountain.
How we can work together

step 1 - your contact

Please get in touch by the contact form above, or by email or WhatsApp, with the information you have. Note that after sending the form there is an option to see available times and directly book a quick 30 minute Zoom call.

step 2 - our reply

We will have a look through the information you sent over and advise on whether we are able to help and our availability. We’ll probably have a few questions to ask before we can get a quote to you.

step 3 - the quote

Getting time zones to match up can be tricky but before setting out the quote it is often best to have a quick call to make sure we are both on the same page and all necessary parts are included. If a call doesnt work we can stay on email or, if need be, WhatsApp.

step 4 - shoot prep call

Once dates and costings have been sorted a call to talk through the details of the shoot is invaluable to make sure we are all set for the day. Some things that are a given overseas don’t work here in Japan and we can advise.

step 5 - the shoot

We can shoot by ourselves to the supplied brief or we can connect an overseas-based director by video call to the shoot. If we are editing then there will be several rounds of feedback as we work through the edit. If we are delivering data only we can start uploading to a Dropbox, Google Drive or similar (or FedEx) usually straight after the shoot that day. Once the data or edit is delivered we will send an invoice by pdf. Payment by bank transfer is preferred, although PayPal is also an option.
